It happens with any configuration of apps. The computer doesn't go asleep, just in idle state with the tabbed applications open.
After a few minutes (Around 5) the tabs reset to Auto Flow.
Tabbed apps reset to untabbed auto flow mode after a few minutes of inactivity.

I have an idea of what is happening as I can replicate it consistently. It's a problem with handoff.
Whenever I have a group of apps in tabs and I open an app on my phone that is compatible with handoff, the icon for said app appears in my Mac's dock and resets the apps into Autoflow.
