Don't know if this behaviour is expected but with an auto-hiding dock it would make sense in my reality to let the dock stay visible whilst on the preview window.

This is intentional. In theory, auto-hide for the Dock can be turned off and on dynamically, but there’s a side effect: window's bottom will automatically move up if they snap to the bottom of the screen.
