Apps (Electron?) not closed properly

With some non native apps closing via the tab row close button in tabbed mode does not work properly. The app is removed from the display but not closed. Re-activating via the dock is opening the app window again, but as a separate tiled window although preferences favor tabs. This does happen with Whatsapp and VS Code but not with native apps like Reminders etc... All on Beta 1.3.4
