For example, I have Adobe Illustrator set for my main monitor, but if I open an illustrator file, then look at something on my second monitor, the illustrator file opens on the second monitor, instead of adhering to the space i've set for it on the app.

Right now new windows open in your current active space. Intuitively, if you're in a space, you probably want to do things in that space.
